Jim Gilmartin

Brass Instructor

Bachelor degree in Music Education from NSU where Jim studied Trumpet with Dr. Michael Moore, and Dr. Robert Bailey. Also completed some of my music degree work at the University of Tulsa studying trumpet with Ron Predl. Jim has studied jazz improvisation with Dr. Will Campbell, and Mr. Lee Rucker. He played trumpet in the marching band, concert band, jazz band, and brass quintet at NSU and TU.

Jim performs on a regular basis with the First Assembly of God praise Band, Muskogee Little Theatre ensemble, Muskogee High School Musical Orchestra, Muskogee Brass Ensemble (at Christmas time), many of the churches around town, Muskogee Community Band and Muskogee Community Jazz Band.

Jim has taught music in public school for 27 years, teaching at the Oklahoma School for the Blind, Muskogee Public Schools as Head Band Director, and currently teaching Elementary Music at Grant Foreman. Also teaching private trumpet lessons to many successful trumpet students that have made the Eastern District Honor Band and first round of All State Band auditions.
