Jeffrey Jones

Drum Instructor

Jeffrey Jones began playing the drums at age eleven. With the financial support and encouragement of his parents, Jeffrey began taking drum lessons with a local drum teacher, Kasey Thompson. Jeffrey later studied in depth with several other great instructors including Will Campbell, Brian Cupp, Steve Houghton, Ed Soph, and Jimmy Cobb. Later, Jeffrey received a music scholarship to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. While attending NSU, he earned a BBA-Business/Marketing and a minor in music performance.

Currently, he is teaching over seventy students per week at Zomac School of Music (Muskogee, OK), and The Music Store (Tulsa, OK). Jeffrey endorses Sabian Cymbals, Vater Drumsticks, Sonor Drums, Remo Drumheads, and Cympads. He has performed clinics in numerous cities in the United States, Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, Poland and France. He has also performed at various drum festivals including the Adams Drummersfestival (Belgium ‘07), Psalm Drummers Gathering (England ‘06), the Drummers for Jesus International Celebration (United States ’06 and ‘11) and D-Fest (United States ‘07 and ’08).

Jeffrey has appeared in numerous drum magazines, taught several master classes, recorded numerous cd’s and commercials, taught in several drum camps, and has directed four award winning high school marching drumlines. His published works include, six snare and drum set solos, one instructional DVD, and three drum set books (Groovology: The Study of Double Bass Drum Grooves, Groovology: The Study of Basic Drum Set Grooves, and Groovology: The Study of Jazz and Latin Grooves).

Jeffrey’s diverse performance credits include performances with Joe Lovano, Bob Mintzer, Terry Bradshaw (yes the football player), Bobby Shew, Byron Stripling, Mike Williams, Frank Mantooth, Marvin Stamm, Slide Hampton, Jim Riggs, Bret Zvacek, Judi Silvano, John Dankworth, Leon Breeden, Dave Rieckenberg, Chris Vadala, Cleo Laine, D.C. Minner, JM Big Band, 351 Windsor, and his personal rock band Reversing Radio and jazz/latin trio Primal Swing. He is also the director of the Oklahoma chapter of Drummers for Jesus.
